For the second year in a row the local Thrivent Financial organization has made a generous donation and agreed to sponsor the 2015 Amazing Ride for Alzheimer’s tour.
I spoke before the Thrivent board this week. Got to the meeting early to set up my display with posters and an original jersey. Much to my surprise I didn’t need my jersey to show them their sponsorship panel from 2014 …. that’s because they had one framed and hanging on their wall.
After I gave my sales pitch on the upcoming tour I fielded a couple of questions including how I’m training, when I’m leaving (that’s still in the works) and where I’m staying.
This will again be a thrifty tour where I’ll rely on the kindness of strangers and the goodwill of the church to help me directions and safe haven, if need be. My favorite comment so far is from Mike Husar who said, “I’ll make a donation if you can manage to tuck yourself in to the Vatican one night.”
“Done,” I said. I have to start making a to-do list of things I’d like to accomplish on this tour and that can be No. 1.
